This is a great example of how I use Plunge Pricing on my Agile Octopus tariff to save money on my energy bills.

Saturday and Sunday, with heavy usage, cost me a combined 87p - the standing charges alone are 70p for each day, so you can see the saving.

Very happy indeed!

What Is Agile Octopus and Is It Worth It?

If you have heard people talking about getting cheap or even free electricity, there is a good chance they are on Agile Octopus.

What is it?

Agile Octopus is a tariff from Octopus Energy where your electricity price changes every 30 minutes, tracking the wholesale market. Most of the time that means cheaper rates than a standard tariff. Sometimes it means rates so low they go negative.

What is plunge pricing?

On windy days or when solar generation is high, the UK grid can have more supply than demand. When that happens the wholesale price drops, sometimes below zero. On Agile, that gets passed straight to you. The grid pays you to use electricity.

Is it worth it?

Yes, if you are willing to shift some usage to cheaper windows. Running your dishwasher, washing machine, or charging your EV during low-rate periods makes a real difference over a year.

If you want to try it, use my referral link and we both get £50 credit.
